          Back to School Guide 2008-09

          The Prairie Rose School Division is pleased to welcome back our parents and students from summer vacation. Hopefully everyone is well rested and ready to participate in another exciting year of education.

          As you prepare to put away the summer clothes and pull out the school backpack, please take a moment to read through the following information. It will help make you and your childs first day back is a lot more enjoyable.

          School Registration

          School registration is done through the school secretary. Students who have not previously attended Prairie Rose schools are required to present a birth certificate upon registration. Students who have attended schools in other districts are asked to provide the address of the school they previously attended to aid staff in acquiring student records. Many Prairie Rose schools will be open during the final week of August to assist new families with registration. For more information about your local school, please visit the Schools section of our website. If transportation is required, bussing information can be obtained through Division Office. Please see the transportation section for further details.

          Age Requirements

          Children who haved reached the full age of five years on or before the last day of February in the year following school opening may be admitted to Kindergarten.

          Children who have reached the full age of six years on or before the last day of February in the year following school opening may be admitted to Grade 1.

          Transportation

          Bus service is provided for all students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 who reside more than 2.4 kilometres from the Prairie Rose school in their attendance area. New students must be registered with the Transportation Department before service can be provided.

          Bus contractors will contact families during the week prior to school start-up to provide students with their driver name, route number, and schedule. If you have registered for bus transportation and do not receive a call from your driver before Friday, August 29th, please contact the Prairie Rose School Division Transportation Department.

          Redcliff Routes

          Redcliff bus routes 111, 122, and 123 to EBHS will run on the same schedule as 2007-08. If you reside in Redcliff and are entering Grade 10, please contact the Prairie Rose Transportation Department for bus times.

          September 2, 2008, is the first day of class for all Prairie Rose students except those who attend Seven Persons School. Seven Persons students will begin classes on September 3, 2008.
