Dunmore, AB - Prairie Rose School Division is excited to announce two new post-secondary partnerships that will allow PRSD8 students to start their post-secondary education, while still completing high school.

Starting next year, Foremost School, Beyond Walls Outreach School, South Central High School, Senator Gershaw School and Eagle Butte High School will have two new dual-credit options to offer students including; Introduction to Business through SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology), and Cree and Native Studies through Grande Prairie Regional College.  Students who take the Introduction to Business program will earn credit for that program should they choose to continue at SAIT after graduation, while students who complete Cree and/or Native Studies will be able to apply those credits towards the University of Calgary and University of Alberta.

“Prairie Rose School Division is very excited to partner with these two post-secondary institutions,” says Assistant Superintendent Reagan Weeks. “As a result of these two new post-secondary partnerships, Prairie Rose School Division will be able to provide these option courses via distance education, and hopefully many more, to our students.”

Dual-credit opportunities allow students to work towards high school and post-secondary credit simultaneously.  The division continues to work with SAIT, Medicine Hat College, and neighbouring jurisdictions to explore additional partnerships.

Please note:  Students interested in participating in these courses can contact their local Prairie Rose school for more information.
