Board Highlights - March 14, 2017

  1.  Trustees Pam Cursons from Ward 4 (Redcliff, Ralston, Jenner and area), and  Lucille Hertz and Lois Bedwell from Ward 1 (Bindloss, Acadia Valley, Oyen, New Brigden and area) took the oath of office and were sworn in as members of the Prairie Rose School Board after being successful in the March 9, 2017 By-Election.
  2. The board approved the 2018-2021 Capital Plan.  The plan outlines the top five projects the board deems as priorities for modernization, addition or replacement.  In order of priority, a modernization and addition at Burdett School, a new middle school in  Redcliff, a modernization of Parkside Junior High School and value management analysis at both South Central High School and Foremost School are included on the list.  The plan will be submitted to Alberta Infrastructure.
  3. The board passed a motion to renew audit services through until 2019 with Avail LLP.  It was noted that the division has a good working relationship with the auditors and that the cost per student is on par with what other jurisdictions are paying for audit services in the province.
  4. The  board received the summary of donations for the 2015-2016 school year.  Overall, Prairie Rose School Division received $844,143.06 in cash and non-cash donations.  The majority of the funds came in through donations for the new Schuler School project ($732,666).
