New Superintendent of Schools

The Prairie Rose School Division Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Roger Clarke has been selected as the new Superintendent of Schools, effective August 14, 2017.

“Roger brings a wealth of experience as an educator and as a superintendent,” says Board Chair Stuart Angle.  “Trustees felt it was important to find a superintendent that is familiar with large geography and sparse populations, and well-versed in the advantages and challenges of operating a rural school division.  Clarke’s previous superintendent experience makes him a great fit for Prairie Rose and we look forward to working with him to continue the vision of Everyone Learning Together.”

“It is important to me that I am able to make a difference in the lives of people and Prairie Rose provides an excellent opportunity to continue that pursuit,” says Clarke.  “Exceptional learning experiences already exist and it is my personal goal to continue the work of creating learning environments that are authentic, motivational, and meaningful for students.”

Roger Clarke completed his undergraduate degrees in Newfoundland before moving to Alberta with his wife in 1990.  During the past 27 years, he has worked as a teacher, vice-principal, principal, program specialist, assistant superintendent and most recently as superintendent for Fort Vermillion School Division in northern Alberta, where he and his wife raised three children.

“Parents, staff and students can expect a superintendent that is dedicated to the role, focused on student learning and well-being, and is committed to personal learning every day,” says Clarke. “In the early days and weeks of this new role I intend to be a listener and learner.  I look forward to meeting new people and working together as a team to do great things for Prairie Rose students.”

Prairie Rose School Division has 17 public schools, 2 outreach schools and 16 colony schools serving approximately 3,400 students across southeastern Alberta.
