Artist in Residence coming to OPS

Artist in Residence Music Program

Next week, October 2-6th, the REAL Program is excited to welcome Artist in Residence, Scott Henderson, to Oyen Public School. The Artist in Residency program out of the Arts Commons in Calgary is a program that brings artists to schools to collaborate with students and teachers in engaging arts-based learning. Through a grant we graciously received from the Chinook Community Association, we are able to offer 5 full days of music with one of Alberta’s finest musicians for all of our students grades Kindergarten to Grade 9.

A bit about our artist:

Scott Henderson is a veteran in the Calgary music scene, who continually contributes as a multi-talented producer, performer, songwriter, and arranger for various artists and projects. Scott is the founding member of the JUNO nominated group The EarthTONES, and soul/funk band Souls in Rhythm. You may also be familiar with his work as the Music Production Manager for the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show while being the Senior Vocal Director for The Young Canadians from 2008-2015.

We are so pleased to be welcoming Scott to Oyen Public School and continuing his mark on our community through an after school music program. More details on the afterschool program will follow on our REAL Facebook page @realprojectoyen.

The public is welcome to the Afternoon Showcase on Friday October 6th at 1:30 in the OPS gym.
