Board Highlights - February 13, 2018

  1. New Brigden School principal Gayle Vass along with several NBS students spoke about the various activities and changes at the school over the past year, since the school review last spring.  The presentation focused on parent involvement and commitment, multi-graded opportunities, small school challenges and successes, cross jurisdiction learning with other PRSD schools, and student learning perspectives.
     
  2. Assistant Superintendent Weeks presented the 2018 Wellness Report to the board for information.  Highlights from the report include success of the IF Cox Nutrition Program, the DREAMS teen mentoring program, CONNECT Training, the new Help Seeker App and Prairie Rose’s involvement with development and implementation, staff wellness, the development of Wellness Playbooks, and the training of four teachers in the FNMI Blanket Ceremony.
     
  3. The board expressed thanks and appreciation to the bus drivers for keeping kids safe through the difficult winter driving conditions.   Road maintenance staff with the MD of Acadia, Cypress County, County of Forty Mile and Volker Stevin were also thanked for their efforts.
