Board Highlights – October 11, 2016

1.  Enrollment Report
Final enrolment numbers, compared to spring projections, show an increase of 17 students from grades 1-12 and an increase of 27 ECS (kindergarten) students.  Total enrolment for the division is 3,195 from K-12.  That number does not include JK or Beyond Walls Outreach School numbers.

2.  Feasibility Study
A motion was approved for administration to conduct a feasibility study for New Brigden School, following low student enrolment for 2016-17.  The study will focus on families in the area with children who have not reached school age.

3.  Transportation Requests
Two transportation requests were presented to the board.  One request asking for release from Prairie Rose School Division was denied, while a second was put on hold until an attendance area boundary review could be conducted in the Foremost/Seven Persons area.

4.  EBHS Modernization Update
The board approved a motion to extend the completion date of the Eagle Butte High School modernization project from September 1, 2017 to September1,  2018.

5.  Bank Borrowing Resolution
The board approved a bank borrowing resolution with ATB Financial for $750,000 for the 2016-17 school year.  The board must approve the resolution annually in accordance with the School Act.  The line of credit has never been accessed in the past.
