New OPS Principal Announced

New OPS Principal Announced

Superintendent Roger Clarke would like to congratulate Jason Duchscherer who has accepted the position of principal at Oyen Public School.

Duchscherer is not a stranger to the Oyen area, having started his teaching career with Prairie Rose School Division in 1999 as a teacher at Oyen Public School (OPS).  In 2009, he moved into the principal position at OPS, later transferring to Schuler School in 2012 where he was principal for 6 years, before recently working as vice-principal at Eagle Butte High School for the past two years.

“I’m very excited to return to Oyen and to a community my family still calls home,” says Duchscherer.  “It’s been a wonderful opportunity for me to work in other schools over the past 8 years and learn new ideas and teaching strategies.  I look forward to continuing on with the great learning already taking place at OPS and bring some of those ideas from my other experiences with me to Oyen.”

"Jason is well known in the Oyen community and has strong roots in the area,” says Superintendent Roger Clarke.  “We are pleased this administration opportunity will allow him to return home to be closer to the family ranching business.  With his many years of experience and community connections, we are confident Jason will be a good fit for OPS as the school transitions into a K-6 school next year.”

Jason Duchscherer will officially assume the role of principal at the start of the 2020-21 school year.
