Reagan Weeks Named New Deputy Superintendent - Mentorship opportunity leads to change in PRSD executive team

Effective the 2020-2021 school year, Reagan Weeks will assume the role as Chief Deputy Superintendent of Schools for Prairie Rose School Division, replacing Kal Koch who has announced his gradual retirement from the division. As part of the transition, Koch will mentor Weeks in her new role as he assumes the role of Assistant Superintendent of Operations for the next two years.

Weeks began working with Prairie Rose back in 2015 as the Assistant Superintendent of Learning. For the past five years, her work has focused on developing programming, building educational and learning supports and growing partnerships with external stakeholders.  During this time, Weeks also completed her Doctorate of Education at Johns Hopkins University.

“I would like to thank the board for this opportunity to grow both in Prairie Rose and my career,” says Weeks. “Kal is already a strong support in my current role as Assistant Superintendent and I look forward to learning and working alongside him as we transition the two positions.”

Some of the current responsibilities Weeks holds will remain in her portfolio including management of the division’s teaching and learning program, leadership development and curriculum oversight.  The move into the Deputy position will incorporate staffing and human resources, as well as additional responsibilities based on the direction of the Superintendent.

“This is a really great combination for Prairie Rose School Division,” says Superintendent Roger Clarke. “It’s not always possible to bring a two-year mentorship into these types of executive transitions.  I am pleased this succession planning process works for both Kal and Reagan, as it allows for consistency within the division.  Thank you to the PRSD Board of Trustees for supporting the plan and both of these exceptional executives.”

Weeks will officially assume the role of Deputy Superintendent on September 1, 2020.
