New Eagle Butte High School Vice-Principal Announced

Superintendent Roger Clarke and Eagle Butte Principal Mark Heinricks would like to congratulate Rocheal Howes who has accepted the position of Vice-Principal at Eagle Butte High School.

Howes holds a Masters of Education in School Leadership, as well as Bachelor degrees in Education and Kinesiology. Over the past 20 years, she has taught overseas in Japan, in the Medicine Hat area at both the high school and junior high levels, and for the past three years as a teacher and vice-principal of Parkside Junior High School in Redcliff. Howes has training  in mental health, curriculum redesign, design thinking, academic diversity and project-based learning; which includes supporting student entrepreneurial growth and development through a school restaurant that she started while working at St. Mary’s School. Competitive level sports is another passion for Howes, having coached and supported youth development in cross country, track and field and basketball.

“Eagle Butte is a high academic school serving students with many unique interests, including an entrepreneurial program, hockey academy and flight academy,” says Howes. “There are many opportunities to apply the skills I have acquired and I am excited to get back into teaching at the high school level. Additionally, I look forward to collaborating with staff and the leadership team as we continue to develop exceptional program opportunities for students.”

“Howes brings many years of experience and expertise in both junior and high school teaching to Eagle Butte School,” says Superintendent Roger Clarke. “Her previous work in developing creative programming opportunities for students is a great fit for EBHS, while her work as an administrator at Parkside Junior High School prepares her well for this transition back to high school level teaching.”

Rocheal Howes will officially assume the role of vice-principal at the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
