Project Background
Last fall, Prairie Rose Public Schools invited homeschooling and shared responsibility homeschooling parents living in southeast Alberta to participate in an online survey so we could learn more about what parents deemed as primary motivations for choosing an alternative learning program. Through the survey we learned that families who chose homeschooling programs value flexibility and time with family, but also expressed interest in accessing a portion of programming (i.e. music, shop, gym, math, etc.) through a local Prairie Rose school on a part-time basis.

Next Steps
As a next step in this discussion, Prairie Rose is inviting homeschooling parents in southeast Alberta to participate in an upcoming online focus group to help us better understand how we can best serve families who choose alternative programs over conventional in-person learning. The focus group will allow parents to tell us what they value about homeschooling education and how we can help provide services that would enhance their child’s learning experience.

How can I participate and what should I expect?
The parent focus group session will take place online via Zoom on Monday, February 1, 2021. Following a short presentation, participants will be broken into smaller groups to share their thoughts on possible alternative learning options Prairie Rose Public Schools could consider.

Update Jan 28, 2020: To accommodate registration numbers, the focus group session has been moved to one evening.
To register, click on the link below. You will be asked for your name, email address and area of residence. Details for joining the meeting will be emailed to you once your registration is complete.
