Positive COVID-19 Case : Oyen Public and South Central

On Thursday, May 13, 2021, Prairie Rose Public Schools was informed by Alberta Health Services of a positive case of COVID-19 connected to both South Central High School and Oyen Public School. Close contacts were identified and a total of 40 students and four (4) staff have been placed into quarantine. The positive case puts both South Central High School and Oyen Public School on Alert status.

Those who are required to isolate will continue to be supported by the school through online and remote learning methods. Siblings and family members of close contacts are not required to self-isolate, however they are asked to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.  Out of respect for privacy and in accordance with AHS guidelines, we cannot disclose personal details about the positive case.

We remind all families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using our Student Illness Guide. Our COVID-19 Close Contact Guide outlines the process of identifying close contacts in schools and what to do if you have been around someone who tests positive for COVID-19.
